Terry Bachman (back)

I am a maker of studio furniture and a sculptor of abstract landscapes in wood. As a woodworker I've been influenced by the Shakers, the Arts & Crafts movement, Japanese wood block printmakers, painters Paul Klee and Maria Elena Vieira da Silva, Alabama quilt makers and architect/sculptor Maya Lin. My work refers to many artistic elements of the past, but I am most motivated by what I see just ahead. My passion is to transform rough-cut lumber into objects elegant and practical, pleasing to the eye and smooth to the touch. I challenge myself to make furniture, sculpture and wood mosaics that are well proportioned, perfectly joined, and painstakingly finished.
